I think the opposite esp. on the economy. Even Superman couldn’t fix the mess he inherited. I think people forget how devastating the bursting of the asset bubble was and how seriously it will affect our economy for a long time.
You obviously overlooked the fact that your wonderful prez was one of those who voted AGAINST the investigation of Freddy and Fannie’s actions that were the root cause of the housing market collapse?

Well, when I went out to get the mail today, no companies spontaneously offered me spectacular jobs – so the gov’ment must be screwing something up. I don’t know too much bout the gov’ment, but I know that Obama guy’s s’posed to be boss of it or somethin’, so he needs to own up for why my life isn’t better than it is.
There needs to be less of that gov’ment, anyhow. Seems all it ever does is bug me about payin’ my taxes, or write me speeding tickets, or tell me I can’t keep the fish I just caught or sommat. I’m for whoever’s for making that gov’ment smaller.
(Now, while it might be true that Obama’s timely response to the economic crisis with large-purchase incentive programs and public works funding is the sole reason the US still has an auto market and a functional credit economy, folks like me can’t be expected to know that much. All we know is, buncha people on the TV are tellin’ us that life would be a lot better, if that Obama guy wasn’t screwing up so much. So we need to get him replaced, is what we need to do.)

He was supposed to reduce unemployment levels to 5%, double the DOW, and wipe out the debt crisis, all within a week of being inaugurated. That’s how he failed: By being held up to impossible standards.

President Obama is doing a good job considering all he has going against him. I think all the negativity around Americans fuels a who to blame thinking. Obama is an easy target, easy to blame, especially since he is a minority.

I am against the National Healthcare bill.
Obama’s stimulus was a failure, especially since he said that unemployment would be below 8% with its passage. It is almost 10% now.
I strongly do not approve of his foreign policy. His administration makes America look weak, not strong.
He promised immigration reform early in his election. No sign of that. He did not even put the effort to control that bleeding border down south.
He sued Arizona. I thought that unnecessary.
I expect tax hikes sooner or later this year and maybe the next. This is not a good thing to do in a recession.
His deficit is 3x that of Bush’s before Bush left office. His deficit is the highest in American history, save during WW2.
He also attempted to block the funding for the war early in his senate career. Today, it seems as if he is taking credit for the surge!

Trying to use race at an advantage. Meaning his support for biology-challenged people calling him the first black president. That is hard to accomplish with a biological white mother. He has not lied about anything that he has done so far. During his campaign he promised health care reform. He specifically talked about things that he was going to do. He didn’t get the public option, but he can’t control everything that goes into the bill, because he doesn’t make the laws, Congress does. He got a stimulus bill passed that has created new jobs and saved others. The president doesn’t have a little dial that controls the economy. Truth is, the president really has little effect on the economy. This is a global recession, not just us. With the economy, it is always, 3 steps forward and 1 step back. That is how a free market works. You can’t always have growth. In this case, we had 10 steps forward in the 90′s and 00′s, and now we are taking 5 steps back, in a short amount of time. Thats why it hurts so badly.
